Here is a way to make a DVD backup of Windows Vista on the Acer Laptop. This is from the Acer’s website in the user manual:

How to create full and incremental backup images of your Windows system

Note: Fast (incremental) Backup is only available after a Full

Using the Burn Disc page of Acer eRecovery Management, you can burn the
factory default image, a user backup image, the current system configuration,
or an application backup image to CD or DVD.
  1. Press ALT+F10 or select Acer eRecovery Management from the
    Empowering Technology toolbar.
  2. Then select Burn Disc page by clicking on Burn Disc button.
  3. Select the type of backup (factory default, user, current system,
application). A user backup will burn your most recently created backup image to disc.
  4. Follow the instructions.
A factory default image is when you want to burn a bootable disc to recreate your laptops entire Windows OS as it was sent from the factory plus the selected drivers and applications. The application backup will create a disc that will allow you to browse the contents and install but this disc won’t be bootable.
